The 15 Funniest Complaints Chefs Have Had From Customers

The Staff Canteen

The customer is always right! At least, we think they might be. It's hard to tell sometimes; anybody with experience in working at a restaurant has most likely come across the one odd customer complaining about something that doesn't quite make sense.

If you're new to the industry and you've been asked to take food back because the plate is too hot or the rare steak is a bit pink, then don't worry you're not alone! In fact, we asked chefs on social media for some of the funniest complaints they have ever received and we've compiled a list of the most ridiculous replies below!

“About a year ago, a customer complained that the rhubarb wasn’t from Yorkshire like we stated on the menu. I asked the staff to assure him it was, this wasn’t good enough for him so he kicked off made a bit of a scene and demanded to see me. I asked him through to the kitchen and as he arrived I dropped a 4ft long 5kilo box of Yorkshire Tomlinson rhubarb on the bench [in] front of him, and I pointed to the several Yorkshire labels on the box and by the look on his face he want[ed] [the] floor to swallow him up!”
