Electrolux Professional backs nation's best chefs

Electrolux Professional, the UK’s leading food service equipment manufacturer, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the nation’s most prestigious culinary competition – the Craft Guild of Chefs’ National Chef of the Year 2014.

Launched in 1972, National Chef of the Year has seen the cream of the UK culinary world take the title. Previous winners have included Gordon Ramsay, David Everitt-Matthias, Mark Sargeant, Steve Love and Simon Hulstone.

The sponsorship package will see Electrolux Professional support the progression of 40 shortlisted chefs, each of whom will battle it out to be crowned the nation’s best.

Phil Howard, chef owner of the Michelin-starred The Square Restaurant, will once again chair a panel of more than 40 industry judges, including Clare Smyth MBE, chef patron at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and Gary Jones, executive head chef at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons.

As part of its support for the competition, Electrolux will be supplying a suite of professional cooking appliances for the competition’s final, which is held at the Restaurant Show on Tuesday, October 7. The eight solid top gas burner ranges, and 10 induction tops will give each finalist the chance to create their imaginative three-course lunch menu using a host of best-in-class food service equipment, while Electrolux will also be supplying two double door fridges and a double freezer for the event’s main competition area.

Stuart Flint, Training and Demonstration Manager at Electrolux Professional commented: “As the biggest celebration of the outstanding levels of skill and expertise demonstrated by the nation’s chefs, it is a real honour to be one of the main sponsors of this year’s competition. Previous winners have gone on to have exceptional careers, and we’re excited to see how this year’s line-up of competitors showcase their culinary flair.”

The final of the most prestigious competition on the culinary calendar will take place at The Restaurant Show, Earls Court 2, London on Tuesday 7th October 2014.
