Sustainable Business of the Year
Y Marram, Niwbwrch, Ynys Môn
Y Marram is an all-day dining room and events space on Ynys Môn. We cook from scratch with produce bought directly from island growers, farmers and fishermen, so the menu changes with what comes in, from Menai mussels and oysters to Welsh cheeses. For the popular breakfast, we make our own sausages, black pudding and cured bacon. Once a month we host Marchnad Y Marram, a market of local food, drink and craft that gives island producers a place to sell direct.
Alongside the restaurant, our #FoodSheducation cookery workshops teach groups such as young carers, with partners like Action for Children. That work has grown into FoodSheducation Môn CIC, a social enterprise using food to improve health, wellbeing and opportunity. Its first major programme, Nourished at Sea, takes healthy cooking to fishing communities with SeaFit.
