"He just Fyred them” - Social Media reacts to chef John Mountain's ban on vegans

Social media has been alight after The Staff Canteen reported that celebrity chef John “Johnnie” Mountain decided to ban vegans from his restaurant following disagreements with a female customer.

The story reported on social news site JOE, revealed that John Mountain's ban came after a vegan customer complained about the lack of vegan options, triggering a war of online reviews between meat-eaters and plant-based diet followers.

Agreeing with John’s decision, Instagram user ‘blackdognick’ said: “Nothing controversial about it, you wouldn’t go into a vegan/vegetarian restaurant and demand to be served meat”

Carl Elliott on Facebook said: “Not all heros wear capes some wear aprons”

Marcus Bawden on Facebook said:” Should go into a vegan restaurant and demand to see their meat option for balance....”

However, disagreeing with John’s decision to ban vegans, Lindsay Little said: “Stupid aptitude, if you’re a good chef, vegan food can be fantastic also very profitable”

Joking about John’s decision, whilst referencing the name of the chef’s restaurant, Instagram user chefromainavril said: “He just Fyred them”

John, who has an extensive culinary background, including working with renowned chefs like Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre White, expressed his frustration with negative reviews and stated that the controversy was damaging his business.

The ban on vegans at Fyre has raised questions about inclusivity in the food industry and the growing demand for vegan options.
