Sat Bains new book ‘Too Many Chefs Only One Indian’ has won the title of Best Cookbook Design at the 2013 Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in Paris.

On winning the award Sat Bains said: "It's been overwhelming and an amazing journey. We set out to create a book that would stand the test of time and be testament to exactly what's going on in the industry right now – and we nailed it."

The debut cookbook from the two-Michelin-starred chef of Restaurant Sat Bains with Rooms is a behind-the-scenes look at the world of cutting edge modern cuisine. It features 68 recipes, a foreword by Heston Blumenthal and contributions from 36 of the world’s greatest chefs including Paul Ainsworth, Rene Redzepi and David Chang.

Contributing chef Paul Ainsworth said: “I was over the moon about the award but not surprised because to me it’s an inspiration to a generation. Any young chef coming into the industry will be inspired by it because it shows you just what it takes to get to the top of the game.”

A total of 171 countries participated in the 18th Gourmand Awards held at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris. Other British winners included ‘The British Larder’ by Madeline Bonvini Hamel, winner of the best woman chef and author and ‘The Art of the Restaurateur’ by Nicholas Lander, winner of the best author and chef in the professional section.
