Almeida raises 10K with Kitchen Kick Off tasting menu

On Thursday, 10 March, Almeida hosted a 6 Nations “Kitchen Kick Off” tasting evening with an all star chef line-up raising £10,000 for Sports Relief.

A one-off event for food lovers and sporting fans alike, the evening comprised a tasting menu created by an impressive line-up of six high profile chefs, each representing one of the participating countries.

Hosted by professional rugby talent, Richard Thorpe, the evening began with a drinks and canapés reception, after which guests were treated to six courses created by some of London’s finest chefs. Dinner included:

Tommy Boland from Almeida’s roasted Scottish lamb, charred lettuce, carrots, wild garlic and almonds

Sartoria Chef Patron, Francesco Mazzei’s tortelli with burrata, ‘nduja and aged Modena balsamic vinegar

Michelin starred Chef Eric Chavot’s salmon au mélasse with chilli slaw

Robin Gill from The Dairy’s bacon and cabbage speciality

Andy Wilson of Ashdown Park’s portland crab, salt baked beetroot, lemon emulsion and hazelnut

Bryn Williams of Odette’s dessert of jaffa cake with a Welsh twist

Kitchen Kick Off was an evening of excellent food, friendly rivalry and a rare opportunity for guests to enjoy a menu created by a line-up of some of the city’s best chefs, all coming together in celebration of 6 Nations.
