Atelier, the creative drinks studio and cocktail bar from award-winning drinks creator Robert Wood, is now open in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter

Housed in a restored factory in Newhall Square, Atelier offers Robert a workshop where he is free to express his ever-changing interests and ideas through drinks.

The bar open for just a few nights a week for a handful of guests each evening, with each menu available for a limited time only, offers a fleeting taste of Robert’s current obsessions.

Reservations are open for the first Atelier menu ‘Terroir’, which runs from 22 September to 12 November 2022.

In a post on Instagram, Alex Claridge Owner of the Wilderness and a partner in the venture from Robert Wood, celebrated Atelier’s opening.

Alex said: “Atelier is now open and I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone involved. A Herculean effort to deliver a drinking experience that we hope adds something quite different to the city’s already exciting scene.”

‘Terroir’ is the first menu and is available from now until the 12th November 2022 and represents an exploration and celebration of the native pantry of the British Isles, with three distinctive experiences on offer.

‘Terroir, 874 Miles’ is a 7-course cocktail tasting experience that takes guests on a journey across the UK celebrating a plethora of landscapes and their esoteric flavours and ingredients - expect a thoughtful progression of drinks in a multitude of forms served by Atelier’s expert team.

Guests are invited to settle into Atelier’s beautiful lounge and enjoy house cocktails from the ‘Terroir’ a la carte menu, all of which celebrate the unexpected flavours found across the British Isles. Guests who prefer a concise, but tailored experience can also select the ‘Terroir, GB365’ tasting experience, a 4-course menu that reflects British seasonal changes.

60’S SCANDINAVIAN DESIGNS MEETS JAPANESE MINIMALISM

Atelier c/o Robert Wood is housed in a Grade II listed building in Newhall Square that dates back to 1838, and which formed part of the Elkington Mason & Co electro-gilding and plating works, one of the most important and influential manufactories in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

The Atelier interiors blend inspiration from high-end retail, hospitality and domestic designs to create a relaxed, everyday luxury.

The design is intentionally international, with a strong influence from turn-of-the-century and ‘60s Scandinavian design, as well as influences from Japanese fine dining, embodying the approach of Japanese minimalism (reflecting Robert’s diverse design interests).

The space is finished with bespoke art works from local creator, Mau Samayoa. As Robert’s creative home and studio, Atelier offers an intimate and relaxed experience where guests are given a glimpse behind the curtain of the creative process.

Reservations for ‘Terroir’ at Atelier c/o Robert Wood are open for dates between 22nd September to 12th November, and can be made via www.atelierbyrobertwood.com.
