It has been reported that Anthony was found unresponsive in his hotel room in France, where he was filming an episode of the CNN show Bourdain's Parts Unknown. He was found by his friend, French chef Eric Ripert.
CNN tweeted that the "chef, storyteller and Emmy-winning host" had killed himself.

He was apparently found unresponsive in his hotel room in France, where he was filming an episode of the show, said CNN.
In a statement CNN said: "It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain.
"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller.
"His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."
Anthony was a 1978 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and a veteran of numerous professional kitchens, including many years as executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles.
He also worked in various restaurant kitchens in New York City—including the Supper Club, One Fifth Avenue, and Sullivan's.
His bestselling book, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly, became a bestseller in 2000 and launched his TV career.
