Taiwanese bubble tea creators Chatime will open their 13th store in Edinburgh on Tuesday, June 2nd. The store will be their first venture into Scotland and will be located at 14 Bank Street, in the middle of a busy shopping district and just a short walk from Edinburgh Castle.

Chatime is renowned across the UK for their Taiwanese beverages, boasting a range of unique styles and varieties of their unique, tea based refreshment. Only the highest quality natural ingredients are used in their products, brewed fresh in store using tea leaves.

Peter Wong, founder of Chatime UK comments: “We’re excited to launch our first store in Scotland and to have found such a brilliant location in the centre of the city. Bubble Tea is the perfect summer refreshment and we can’t wait to welcome the people of Edinburgh in to try our delicious selection.”

Bubble tea is distinguishable by the oversized, chewy tapioca balls that are usually found on top of the revitalising drink. The bubble tea recipe involves a tea base, mixed with fruit or milk. Ice can also be added to the tea to create slushy-style versions, as well as blended syrup or extra fruit for an extra refreshing drink. Bubble tea can also be known as pearl milk tea or boba milk tea, as the word ‘bubble’ is actually an Anglicisation of ‘boba,’ which means

The successful Chatime brand is run by a team of artisan tea developers and testers, who have shared the popular Taiwanese beverage with the rest of the world. State-of-the-art technology and high quality, fresh ingredients, contribute towards the nutritious teas and the brand’s menus are regularly updated in order to keep the concept of Cha tea fresh and dynamic at all times, offering customers a wide range of new and exciting flavour fusions.

The interior design for Chatime’s newest store is inspired by the company’s Taiwanese roots, with a mixture of dark wooden floors and light wood panelling. Natural grey tones also feature, accentuating the store’s space. A warm and welcoming atmosphere is credited to the lounge area, a relaxing environment offering grey sofas, soft lighting and chilled music.

The store will be open from 11am-9pm, 7 days a week - more info over on their site here
