Gordon Ramsay has denied any wrongdoing after leaked documents claimed that the chef had avoided over £2.2m in tax. The document, seen by the Mail on Sunday, was written by Ramsay's former finance director Trevor James. In it James admitted that the company had "skated on some very thin ice" and added that "the duty at stake is enough to warrant prosecution for years to come, should the real facts emerge".

Loic Avril, a sommelier at The Fat Duck, has been named the world's best young sommelier after winning the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs 2013 International Young Sommelier of the Year competition.

Top chef in court on VAT rap
A celebrity chef and restaurant owner has appeared in court in connection with allegations he flouted rules around supplying goods that are subject to VAT. Paul Heathcote MBE, 43, who gave his address as Winckley Square, Preston, faces allegations relating to two Lancashire restaurants.

Arnaud Stevens and Searcys to open Sixtyone restaurant
Chef Arnaud Stevens is set to open Sixtyone, a new restaurant at 61 Upper Berkeley Street in London, on 11 November. Stevens was previously executive chef at 30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin, and has also worked at Maze Grill, Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, La Tante Claire at the Berkeley, and City Rhodes with Gary Rhodes.
