The Academy of Food & Wine Service, the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and the Restaurant Association joined forces at The Dorchester last night for the 27th National Restaurateurs’ Dinner (NRD) to celebrate the year’s successes and raise vital funds for the future of training and education in the hospitality sector.

Top chefs including Singh and Kerridge set for Belmond British Pullman train
Five top chefs are to host a series of dinners on board the Belmond British Pullman train, from May to November this year. Vivek Singh (the Cinnamon Club), Tom Kerridge (the Hand and Flowers), Tom Sellers (Restaurant Story), James Martin (the Talbot, Malton) and Anton Mosimann (Mosimann’s) will each host a one-off evening with their own individual menus, matching their personal cooking styles, and accompanying wines.

Greenpeace and TV chef celebrate as tuna producer agrees to change ways
Greenpeace and the television chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall are claiming victory for sea creatures after a producer of cut-price tuna linked to a controversial fishing method that can kill sharks, rays and turtles agreed to change its ways. LDH, owner of Oriental & Pacific, a brand stocked by Tesco and Asda, told campaigners it would sell only sustainably sourced tuna from April 2015.

Chef Mitch Tonks to open new eaterie in Torquay
Chef-restaurateur Mitch Tonks and business partner Mat Prowse are set to launch a fourth seafood restaurant, in an undisclosed but ‘sizeable’ investment just nine months after their most recent opening. They are set to open a 60-cover harbourside eaterie on Torquay’s Victoria Parade.
