Head chef Rupert Rowley has left Michelin-starred Fischer’s after nearly 17 years of service

He said: “I always said I didn’t want to work split shifts my whole life. Owners Max and Susan Fischer are ready to take a step back so I thought it was time for me to look for something else. I’ve been thinking about it for two years now.”

Rupert will join the team at  MSK ingredients as a development chef. He is currently studying for a Master's degree in international hospitality management at Sheffield Hallam University and was looking to become a lecturer. Joining MSK will allow him to teach as part of his new role.

He said: “I owned half of Rowley’s pub and I recently sold my shares. That’s when I was approached by the owners at MSK. I’ve known them for a long time, I’ve done demos for them and I used their products  at Fischer’s for years.

“It’s a new role for them and I’ll be taking over the educational accounts, which I am looking forward to, and expanding the company while developing the range."

“They have a few ideas for the role and it’s a new challenge for me.”

He added: “I love cooking and working at Fischer’s, but this new role offers me the opportunity to train, develop, educate and ultimately it gives me more family time.”

Rupert joined Fischer’s as sous chef in 2002, becoming head chef in 2003. The restaurant has held for its Michelin Star for over 20 years.

On working at Fischer’s, he said: “I’ve enjoyed it, I’m a big fan of independent country house hotels – I like the white table clothes and fine dining. Fischer’s is geared up to be an experience and it’s all about looking after the customer – the stars and AA rosettes are all just an added extra”.

“I am looking forward to new set of challenges with MSK.”

Rupert will be joining The Staff Canteen Live 2019 at the Food Service Show in Birmingham on January 22nd-23rd. Click here for more details.
