Gareth Bowen appointed executive head chef at Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard

The Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard in London have appointed Gareth Bowen as their new executive chef. 

The chef will lead a team of 70 overseeing the hotel's three restaurants including artisan deli and patisserie, LANG on the ground floor, TING Restaurant and Lounge on level 35 and GONG bar on level 52.

Gareth joins the 202 room hotel from his role as executive chef at London Marriott County hall, where he oversaw the restaurant concepts, menus and openings of 12 Marriott hotels including the St Pancras Renaissance and the London Edition.

Gareth said: "I’m very honoured to be joining such an esteemed brand, associated with high standards of service and quality” says Chef Bowen of his new appointment. “The dedication and commitment to local produce are very inspirational and akin to my own philosophies and I can’t wait to make my mark".

To celebrate his appointment, the hotel has launched a Chef’s Market Table in the TING Restaurant where Gareth will offer a seasoned four course menu using fresh local ingredients and produce from Borough Market.
