Chefs are invited to create the ultimate sausage roll in a competition hosted by beer sommelier and food writer Melissa Cole at the Red Lion in Barnes.

The competition involves contestants rolling and cooking ten sausage rolls in allocated time slots in the pub kitchen then serving them up.

The judges this year are: returning judge food critic Charles Campion, head chef and owner of the Sticky Walnut, Gary Usher, winner of The Great British Bake Off 2010 Edd Kimber and runner up of Celebrity Masterchef 2014 Charley Boorman.

Last year’s winner was Chris Brumby from Ben’s Canteen in Battersea with his all day breakfast sausage roll with bloody Mary shot.

Packed with Blythburgh Pork sausage meat, Stornaway black pudding, homemade tomato paste, smoked pancetta and a soft boiled quail egg.

But can you do better? The final takes place on January 28 and The Great Sausage Roll Off 2015 is still open to applicants, for more information and to apply go to www.red-lion-barnes.co.uk/rolloff
