Inter Scaldes awarded three stars in the Michelin Guide Netherlands 2018 while six restaurants gain one star for the first time. There were no new two stars.

Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen led by chef Jannis Brevet has been awarded its third star in this year's guide. The restaurant has been waiting over 30 years to achieve the feat after being awarded a second star back in 1984.

Michael Ellis, international director of Michelin Guides, comments: “With his inspiration and talent, the chef uses top-quality local produce to create complex and harmonious dishes that reveal striking contrasting flavours."

Inter Scaldes join De Leest and De Librije who also retain their three star status in this 2018 selection.

Although no new two star restaurants were announced all 16 have retained their stars this year including last year’s only new two starred addition, Tribeca in Heeze which retains the accolade for a second year.

The 2018 selection also rewards 135 Bib Gourmand including 20 new restaurants. Inspectors appreciate these for their good quality-price ratio, offering a complete menu at less than 37 euros and favouring seasonal products.

The Michelin Guide Netherlands 2018 will go on sale from December 14 at a price of €23.95 in the Netherlands and Belgium, and €23.27 in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This new edition brings together 965 establishments, including 261 hotels (including 22 guest houses) and 704 restaurants.

This year’s listing was revealed at a live launch event earlier today, Monday, December 11, 2017.
