Joery Castel to close the Boat House this October
The fine dining restaurant, The Boat House in Bangor, Ireland is due to close its doors this October as chef Joery Castel makes the tough decision to take some time out of the kitchen.
The post read: “With heavy hearts we would like to inform you that after 8 years in The Boat House we've decided to call it a day.
“We would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you for supporting us from the outset, through all our high and low times (though we have had far more highs!) We've loved every minute of our Bangor journey. It's been an absolute pleasure meeting and looking after all who have come through our doors.
“We are now looking forward to our next challenge.......”
The three AA rosette restaurant was set up in 2008 by Dutch natives Joery Castel and his brother Jasper. Jasper later left to spend more time with his family leaving Joery to take over the reins. Since its opening the restaurant has gone on to achieve numerous awards and accolades including three AA rosettes as well as placing at number 50 in the Sunday Times Top 100 UK Restaurant supplement. It was also one of four restaurants in Northern Ireland to place on the on La Liste- The World's Best 1000 Restaurants at 831.
Earlier this year Joery told The Staff Canteen: “We don't know what the future is going to bring us, last year was amazing, what with the 3 AA Rosettes, number 50 in the Sunday Times top 100 UK Restaurant list and also placing on La Liste - The World's Best 1000 Restaurants at number 831. It will be hard to better than that, but we will keep on working on providing good quality food and service to our guests. At the end of the day our biggest pleasure is seeing our guests enjoying their meal in The BoatHouse.”
