John Burton-Race celebrated the opening of his new restaurant, The New Angel, Notting Hill last night with guests including Donna Air, Rusty Lee, Jilly Goolden, Jules Knight and Ravinder Bhogal and the cream of Notting Hill residents.

Guests were treated to a stunning selection of canapés including Japanese tempura tiger prawns with chilli & tomato dip, seven spice salt; Buckwheat blinis, horseradish cream, smoked salmon & ossetre caviar and Lamb & lentil samosa with mint and yoghurt dressing – and Laurent Perrier champagne.

Set in a converted Victoria pub in Chepstow Place, The New Angel, Notting Hill is an elegant 54-cover restaurant offering John’s unique style of contemporary European food with a French influence. The menu is ingredient-led and seasonal with signature dishes, complemented by an exquisite, predominantly French wine list.

John commented: “The restaurant scene in London just gets better and better, and I am thrilled to be returning to the capital at such an exciting time. With The New Angel, Notting Hill, we are hoping to create a venue which is both a destination, and a neighbourhood restaurant, serving simple yet creative dishes made with beautiful British ingredients.”

Look out for our interview with the man himself later on in the month.
