Jonray Sanchez-Iglesias dies after 4 year cancer battle

The family of Jonray Sanchez-Iglesias today paid tribute to 'a wonderful son, husband, father and brother'. The 32-year-old co-owner of Casamia lost his four year battle with melanoma cancer on Friday, November 6.

In a statement which  his brother Peter posted on twitter, the family said: "Throughout the past four years Jonray's stregnth and bravery have been were unblievable. No matter what challeneges he faced Jonray would always fight back. Even after undergoing numerous surgeries and making countless visits to oncology unit he was determined to head straight back to his team and guests, just to hear the words 'check on chief'.

"At the age of 32, Jonray achieved more than many of us could dream of accomplishing in a lifetime, not just through his career as an extremely talented chef, but also as in his personal life as a devoted husband and loving father to two beautiful girls, Olive and Bella."

They added: "Jonray's talent talent has been most recently recognised in the announcement made in the Sunday Times yesterday morning, naming Casamia as the fourth best restaurant in the UK. This accolade is a testamnet to Jonray's dedication to our restaurant and industry over the years, an industry that he loved so much and considered himslef lucky to be a part of."
