Marco Pierre White-linked restaurants close in UK
Two restaurants operating under the Marco Pierre White brand have closed, amid continued pressures across the UK hospitality sector
Most recently, Marco’s New York Italian in Blackpool closed at the Holiday Inn Blackpool as part of changes to the hotel’s food and beverage operation.
According to Express, the restaurant, which opened in May 2024 as part of the Talbot Gateway regeneration project, stopped trading in early 2026.
A message displayed on the restaurant’s website reads: ‘Sorry we missed you! We’re no longer open at this location.’
The Holiday Inn said the restaurant will be replaced by its in-house dining concept, Platform 9, which will operate as the hotel’s main restaurant going forward. The decision was described as part of a shift towards a more locally focused offer, with no suggestion that jobs at the hotel itself would be affected.
Marco’s New York Italian formed part of Marco Pierre White’s long-running partnership model with hotels and leisure destinations, under which restaurants trade using his name and menus while being operated by third-party partners.
Liverpool steakhouse closes after 15 years
Separately, Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill in Liverpool has closed permanently after more than 15 years in operation.
According to The Sun, the restaurant, located within Hotel Indigo on Chapel Street, has ceased trading, with notices on booking platforms confirming it is no longer open.
No formal statement was issued at the time of closure, and no specific reason was publicly given. The Liverpool site was one of a number of steakhouse concepts launched under the Marco Pierre White brand across the UK, typically positioned within hotels or landmark city-centre buildings.
A long-running chef-brand portfolio
Marco Pierre White, who became the youngest chef to earn three Michelin stars before stepping away from full-time kitchen work in 1999, has spent the past two decades focused on restaurant branding, books, television and licensing agreements.
His restaurant portfolio has included steakhouses, Italian concepts and casual British dining, often operated through partnerships rather than direct ownership.
While many Marco Pierre White-branded restaurants continue to trade across the UK, the closures highlight the ongoing pressures facing hospitality operators, particularly within hotel-based and destination dining.
Rising operating costs, changing consumer habits and tighter margins have contributed to a growing number of site-specific closures across the sector, even among well-known chef brands.
Neither Marco Pierre White nor his representatives issued a public comment directly addressing the recent closures.
The remaining Marco Pierre White restaurants continue to operate independently under their respective partners.
