Masterchef: The Professionals 2013 is open for applications and is looking to The Staff Canteen as an important source of talent for this year’s entrants.

The sixth series of the cooking talent competition will see professional chefs from around the country battling it out to impress celebrity judges Michel Roux Jr, Gregg Wallace and Monica Galetti.

Applications are open now until 29th March at www.masterchef.com. All applicants must be over 20 years old as of May 1st this year, be a resident of the UK and have at least two years’ experience as a chef in a professional kitchen and /or the necessary qualifications.

Although all entrants must be professional chefs, the TV show is keen to take on talent from all backgrounds, not just kitchens, with last year’s joint winner, Keri Moss, coming from a catering background.

Last year’s series saw viewing figures of over 3 million and  an epic final which so divided the judges that they split the title between freelance caterer Keri Moss and pub licensee and chef Anton Piotrowski.

Other previous winners have included the 2011 champion, Ash Mair, who has since opened a restaurant in London and 2010 winner, Claire Lara, who now runs a restaurant in the Wirral. The sixth series of Masterchef: The Professionals will be aired later this year.
