Coque and Zaranda awarded two stars in Michelin guide Spain & Portugal 2016

The Michelin guide 2016, Spain and Portugal, announced two newcomers to a list made up of 23 two starred restaurants this year, The Coque and Zaranda, both in Spain. 

The Coque restaurant, in Humanes de Madrid, which serves contemporary dishes from the area, reflecting the scientific gastronomical techniques researched and carried out by chef Mario Sandoval. Located in Castell Son Claret hotel in Mallorca, restaurant Zaranda is headed by Fernando P. Arellano, who uses local produce to create his own style of dish.

The eight restaurants awarded three stars in last year’s guide have retained their prestige, after repeating their exceptional standards: Akela?e, Arzak, Azurmendi, El Celler de Can Roca, DiverXO, Martín Berasategui, Quique Dacosta and Sant Pau.

157 restaurants, including 15 newcomers, make up the list of one Michelin starred restaurants around Spain and Portugal, which reflects the increase in gastronomic tourism, especially in Andalusia and Catalonia which, combined, are home to eight one starred restaurants.
