The Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland has awarded 16 Bib Gourmands for 2022, ahead of announcing new stars, green stars and special awards next week

Last month, the Guide announced that it would reveal new stars, green stars and special awards for Great Britain and Ireland on February 15th and 16th via a digital presentation, revealing the additions on social media and as news on the Michelin website.

The famed little red book was let go when the guide went fully digital in 2021 due to the pandemic. Having developed a proprietary iOS app, Michelin said the move would allow it to publish the global guide in one place, to be distributed free of charge, thus reaching a much wider audience.

Which restaurants were awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide for Great Britain and Ireland 2022?

With the addition of these 16 restaurants, 122 restaurants now hold the Bib Gourmand accolade across Great Britain and Ireland.

What is a Bib Gourmand?

Named after the Michelin mascot, The Bib Gourmand recognises "friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices."

Originally marked with an "R" next to the restaurant in the Guide, the Bib Gourmand symbol featuring Bibendum was first used in 1997.

In 2017, the Guide introduced the Michelin plate (or l'Assiette Michelin) for restaurants where it says "inspectors have discovered quality food." As of September 2021 in the UK, new restaurants awarded a plate are revealed on a monthly basis
