Speaking exclusively to The Staff Canteen Dominic Chapman revealed that he has handed in his notice at the Royal Oak and leaves his operation early May. Whilst unable to reveal where he was going, he will be starting his own venture. Dominic said “I’m 40-years old have a young family and the time is right for me to do something on my own.”

In 2007, Dom stepped in to help run the Royal Oak's kitchen while in between jobs. Dom soon fell in love with the Oak and decided to stay. In 2008, due to Dom's culinary wizardry the team gained a Bib Gourmand. Going from strength to strength in 2010, The Royal Oak achieved a Michelin star. Today it also holds three AA Rosettes and a Good Food Guide rating of 6/10.

The menu has been described simply as 'British food cooked to perfection'. Dom selects the best seasonal produce, sourced locally whenever possible. He mixes ingredients to enhance rather than disguise the flavour of the dish.  The result - deliciously tasty food; we defy you not to scrape the plate.

We will of course bring you any further news as soon as we have it but good luck Dom in this new venture!
