Head chef of Michelin-starred Bonhams restaurant, Theo Clench,  has announced it will close next month.

Posting on his Instagram he said: "It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of Bonhams restaurant. Our last service will be on the 19/12/18. Due to new owners of the company the decision has been made that there is no room in the big world of Bonhams for our little hidden gem.

"The cliche of blood, sweat and tears have gone into this place couldn’t be more true. Me and @tfkemble (Tom Kemble) achieved something way bigger than us or anyone expected. I want to thank all the team past and present for all the hard work and dedication over the last 4 years! I wish I could tag them all! More importantly I want to thank all the amazing suppliers and most importantly every single guest over the years who have walked through our doors.

"I’m a firm believer that when you get knocked down it’s how you get back up that makes people who they are and when one door closes other one will open."

He added: "We will be cooking our socks off for the remainder of our time here and are going to go out with a bang. So please come and enjoy it all for one last time. "

Theo Clench worked was part of the original team that was awarded a Michelin star in 2015, within 10 months of opening. The restaurant is located within one of the world's oldest and most prestigious auction houses in Mayfair.
