New Glasgow restaurant Eleven Fifty Five to open next year
Peter McKenna, chef-owner of The Gannet, and long-time collaborator Kevin Dow will open Eleven Fifty Five on Argyle Street early next year, marking a new chapter for one of Glasgow’s most celebrated restaurant teams.
The announcement follows confirmation that The Gannet will close on December 31, 2025, bringing an end to more than a decade at the heart of Finnieston’s dining scene.

A new beginning for a landmark Glasgow site
Peter co-founded The Gannet in 2013, and the restaurant quickly became a cornerstone of Scotland’s contemporary dining landscape, holding three AA Rosettes for more than ten years. With its closure now set, Peter has reimagined the space, drawing from Irish snugs, Parisian bistrots and years of travel.
Born and raised in Monaghan in the Republic of Ireland, Peter’s cooking has always centred on craftsmanship, locality and respect for produce – influences that will carry through into Eleven Fifty Five.
Described as an “upscale yet approachable neighbourhood bistro”, the new restaurant will celebrate Scottish ingredients while honouring Peter’s Irish heritage. The menu will highlight long-standing relationships with producers including Greenheart Growers, St Brides Poultry, George Mewes, Simpson Game, and Glasgow’s Couer Sauvage, who are collaborating with the team on a mushroom cabinet. Independent foragers will supply wild mushrooms, flora and seashore seasonal ingredients.
Drinks programme led by Kevin Dow
Kevin, widely regarded as one of Glasgow’s most charismatic maître d’s, will lead the drinks offering. The wine list will champion Old World producers balanced with New World selections and English sparkling. Classic cocktails will anchor the bar programme, curated by bar manager Adam and the team.
Rare and distinctive whiskies will feature heavily, particularly within the new back whisky room, while a continued collaboration with Dookit Brewing will see exclusive beers released throughout the year.
'The time is right to close this page'
Peter said: “The time is right to close this page and move onto the next. It’s been an incredible run with The Gannet and I’m truly grateful for how our work has resonated with so many. Eleven Fifty Five feels like a natural evolution. While we will maintain the high standards we've set, we’ll refocus our offerings to emphasise comfort from the dishes we serve to the inviting atmosphere of the different dining spaces.”
He added: “You will see a lot of familiar faces. Everyone is as excited as Kevin and I for the next chapter. The whole team are really looking forward to welcoming diners in the new year.”
Opening plans
Eleven Fifty Five will open for dinner Monday–Saturday and lunch Thursday–Saturday, offering an à la carte menu alongside daily changing specials.
