Much-adored cooking programme Ready, Steady, Cook is returning to the BBC on monday 2nd March at 4:30pm with a line-up of trailblazing UK chefs.

Mike Reid, Anna Haugh, Ellis Barrie, Akis Petretzikis and Romy Gill will join host and Celebrity Masterchef winner Rylan Clark-Neal in the new, revamped version of the historically popular British programme first hosted by Fern Britton in 1994, followed by Ainsley Harriott in 2000 until it was discontinued in 2010.

New concerns prevalent among the UK public will be reflected in the updated version of the show, such as food waste reduction, cooking on a budget and healthy eating.

The first challenge will see contestants, paired with their celebrity chef, cooking a £10 meal with 20 minutes on the clock, followed by a second round during which they will have just 10 minutes to cook a dish based on audience ingredient cards - with incongruous combinations to be expected.

As convention goes, the winning team will be selected by the audience - who will cast their vote using the red tomato and green pepper cards.

The chefs shared their excitement at being a part of the iconic programme on social media - to an expectedly positive response:
