The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2016 announce 100-51 list
Ahead of the annual awards ceremony on 13 June, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has revealed their list of restaurants ranked from numbers 100-51.
Only three restaurants featured on the list hail from the UK – all from London.
Out of the 15 new entries Lyle’s in Shoreditch is the only new entry from the UK to appear on the list sitting at number 65. Lyle’s is the brainchild of former St John Bread & Wine head chef, James Lowe and was awarded its first Michelin star last year.
Hedone from Swedish chef, Mikael Jonsson has held on to 60th place for a second year in a row and Fergus Henderson’s and Trevor Gulliver’s, St John has moved up a spot to number 91.
Other new entries include the Michelin starred restaurants Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare, New York (81) and Epicure, Paris (69). Just making the list for the first time is Chestnaya Kuhnya in Moscow (100).
There are also a total of four re-entries on this year’s list including La Grenouillère, France (62), La Colombe, South Africa (76), Die Schwarzwaldstube, Germany (88) and La Petite Maison, Dubai (99).
