TV cooking shows have been known over the years to provide a whole host of wonderful double entendres.

And with a new series of The Great British Bake Off having started last week, we thought it would be fun to have a look at some of the best innuendos and puns that have inadvertently (or at times intentionally) been uttered on our screens.

Get ready for some grabbing, wibbling, spatulas, nuts, plums and many more unfortunate wordings!

9. Let’s start off with some grabbing, twisting, slapping and tossing, which never ends well, courtesy of the Great British Bake Off:

 8. Next in, everyone loves Nigella Lawson and her often sexualised cooking shows. Harry Hill counts down some of her classic lines, with the inner thigh wibble a particularly good one.

 7. At number 7, on the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off, Mel lets us know what she’d like to do with her spatula:

 6. A Bake Off classic: anyone fancy some hot ginger nuts?

 5. Number 5 proves the value in thinking before opening your mouth!

 4. This quick countdown from MasterChef comes in at 4, with some brilliant innuendos including peas, puddings and plums.

3. At number 3, watch Fern Britton lose it over a bit of muffin on This Morning, and you get two for the price of one which a cheeky reference similar to number 5 too:

2. Taking the silver medal, have you ever seen a piece of food leave someone’s mouth as quickly as this because of a slightly mispronounced word? Mark Sargeant is the culprit and Phillip Schofield the victim:

 1. James Martin on the normally serene Saturday Kitchen came out with an unfortunate amalgamation of the word dish and Rick Stein’s first name, with disastrous consequences, very worthy of the top spot.

If you think we've missed out a great innuendo then let us know.
