Ruth Hinks, the UK World Chocolate Master and Cacao Barry ambassador, along with the team at Cocoa Black in Peebles are to feature in a forthcoming BBC series, The River.

The show is due to be broadcast over six weeks starting in November and will chronicle the lives of those who live and work along the Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders.

The BBC crew filmed behind the scenes at Cocoa Black between April and August this year. During this busy period, they follow Ruth as she balances the daily challenges of growing an internationally renowned chocolate business with family life.

Highlights during filming include the opening of the new Chocolate & Pastry School by HRH Prince Edward. Other Cocoa Black regulars who may make an appearance on the programme are Martin Chiffers, UK Pastry Team President, Graham Hornigold, Executive Pastry Chef, Hakkasan, and Paul Kelly, Judge on Great Irish Bake Off.

Episode 1 of The River is scheduled for broadcast on November 7, 2016.

Ruth represented the UK at the World Chocolate Masters in Paris. Her top-5 finish ahead of national chocolate masters from France, Belgium and Switzerland remains the UK’s best result in international culinary competition.  In 2014, Ruth was appointed an ambassador to global chocolate brand Cacao Barry.
