11 new restaurants have claimed a place on the World’s 50 Best Restaurant’s 51-100 list in 2015, a list that details the 51st to 100th best restaurants in the world. The announcement comes less than a week before the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards event itself, an annual event that celebrates global gastronomy, recognising restaurants around the world for their culinary accomplishments and expertise.

Created using the same voting process as the 1-50 ranking, the 51-100 list praises new talents and cooking techniques, as well as highlighting new restaurants, placing them amongst traditional favourites that demonstrate enduring quality within the culinary world.

The 11 new entrants include Copenhagen’s Amass, Lisbon’s Belcanto and Istanbul’s Mikla, demonstrating the wide success of fresh talent from across the globe. Other, consistently performing, restaurants, such as UAE’s Zuma and South Africa’s The Tasting Room also remain on the coveted list, both occupying the No.88 spot.

London’s The Clove Club claims the top spot for the UK at No.55, giving the UK four places on the 51-100 list, matching China’s achievement, with Hong Kong’s Otto e Mezzo Bombana claiming a top spot for China at No. 62.

William Drew, Group Editor of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, said: “This is the first year we have shared the 51-100 list ahead of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards ceremony and we are thrilled to shine a light on the global gastronomic talent, new and recurring, that makes up this list. We feel that each and every entry should be celebrated and we are privileged and proud to play a part in the journey of culinary discovery that is The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.”

Canada features on the list at No.81, marking its first appearance since 2010. Joe Beef, opened in Montreal in 2005 by chefs David McMillan and Frédéric Morin has become renowned for its culinary excellence, with it’s dry-aged steaks and fresh seafood dishes contributing to its popular menu. Joe Beef takes the batten from Canada’s last featured restaurants in 2010, Langdon Hall and Rouge.

Alike its Canadian neighbour, the USA has many reasons to celebrate, adding two new restaurants to the list to claim a total of nine places. Last year’s One To Watch, Saison in San Francisco, jumps 13 places to No.56. New York eatery Estela makes its first appearance on the list at No.90.

Other entries include restaurants ranked highly in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2015 and Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014, including New Delhi’s Indian Accent, picking up the No.77 award on the 51-100 list. The restaurant has previously won The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in India award alongside its No.22 placing at Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards 2015. Argentina’s Tegui, located in Buenos Aires, was named the Best Restaurant in Argentina at Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2014 and makes its first appearance on the World’s 51-100 list at No.83.

Overall, 24 countries, spanning across six continents, claimed places on the 51-100 list. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, will be announced at the annual awards ceremony at the Guildhall in London on 1st June, 2015.
