Xin Rong Ji (Nanyang Road) awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide Shanghai 2019

Xin Rong Ji (Nanyang Road) has been awarded two Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide Shanghai 2019.

Specialising in Taizhou cuisine, the restaurant which is in a historical building of the city and prides itself on the use of the extreme freshness of the ingredients used in their dishes. They offer a bespoke menu with a curated selection of seasonal picks.

“This 2019 selection is impressive in that it accurately reflects the identity and history of Shanghai." commented Bruno de Feraudy, Director of Michelin Group.

Maintaining the highly-coveted three Michelin Stars is Ultraviolet, with the brilliant chef Paul Pairet at the helm. 

There were five new restaurants who were awarded a Michelin Star for the 2019 selection which included Cantonese specialists Ji Pin Court – led by chef Cheung who produces a high level of Cantonese cuisine, with a particular focus on using high-quality ingredients.

Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire has also been awarded a Michelin Star, here guests can enjoy a variety of iconic French specialities, such as the Frogs ‘Poulette’ cocotte and the Foie gras terrine brioche.

The Italian restaurant Il Ristorante - Niko Romito, run by the chef of the same name was also awarded a Michelin star. The chef takes pride in offering authentic Italian flavours that ensure an authentic culinary journey.

Also being awarded a Michelin Star is Amazing Chinese Cuisine and last but no means least is Moose a restaurant that specialises in Huaiyang cuisine.

Bruno de Feraudy, Director of Michelin Group in China said: "The Oriental Pearl, as the city is sometimes called, has both a thousand-year-old cultural heritage and is also one of the largest modern megacities. Shanghai, therefore, has the features of a cosmopolitan city yet still fascinates visitors from all over the world, and the city's gastronomy is the perfect reflection of this.
