Wellocks of Lomeshaye, Lancashire, is a quality supplier of both fresh and dry ingredients that is sourced from all over the country and abroad, mainly from local producers and farms that take pride in what they produce.

With the never ending rainfall still being as persistent as ever the problems carry on with the same suspects. Broccoli & Cauliflower – Jim Hornby has been struggling with not being able to supply all week, we have had to import from Holland, the prices are very high but there`s very little alternative if you want broccoli or Cauliflower.

We have some other good suggestions on this week’s offer sheet. Potatoes – We started the week on a positive note with getting a supply of new crop from a Lancashire grower, the size was on the small side but a good spud to say how bad the conditions have been, unfortunately it was short lived with the heavens opening again he`s not been able to get into his field.

We have had to go back to spunta for the chips. Albert Bartlett have been having problems of their own with supply, the Rooster have deteriorated these last few days with still being old crop, we have decided to stop buying them and move to King Edward for your mashing needs.

Herbs – we are still having to import these from Israel, Alison at sand hutton is trying her best to get back on schedule but with very little sunlight it`s an uphill battle for her at the moment. Roquet – Alan over in Southport has also been pulling what`s left of his hair out with his roquet being too wet, we have bought bunched Italian which I`m sure you will all be happy with, it`s a great product.

Baby Vegetables – Elaine at Remfresh has been growing vegetables for 35 years; she cannot recall the weather having such a catastrophic effect on growing conditions. She has no baby leeks and fennel this week and very little beetroots. Henry at True baby is also struggling with leeks; we have had to buy from France to keep supply going. Secretts have been coming up with some great veg these last couple of weeks to lift the doom and gloom with purple kohlrabi, bunched chantenay and caval nero. We have these in stock if you fancy giving them a go.
