‘Unsustainable’ – Adam Simmonds’ London restaurant closes
Voyage with Adam Simmonds, at The Megaro Hotel in London, has permanently closed its doors, with “the operation unsustainable”.
Effectively immediately (August 21), the restaurant will no longer be welcoming guests.
The restaurant launched less than a year ago, with a Scandinavian-inspired menu, but it has now closed “in light of the challenging economic climate”.
The Megaro Hotel opened in 2008 and is an independent, boutique hotel located opposite King’s Cross and St Pancras stations in London.
The hotel has a strong connection with the culinary world, regularly evolving its restaurant spaceslaunching Voyage with Adam Simmonds in January 2025.
A statement from the hotel about the closure read: “Voyage with Adam Simmonds, at The Megaro Hotel, has permanently closed its doors, effective immediately, August 21, 2025.
“This decision has been made in light of the challenging economic climate and disappointing trading performance, which have made the operation unsustainable.
“Details regarding the future development of the restaurant space will be shared in due course.
“The team would like to thank all guests, partners, and supporters for their patronage and encouragement throughout Voyage’s journey.”
Adam Simmonds journey
Renowned chef Adam is known for his refined, modern cooking style and his pursuit of culinary excellence. He first trained at Le Gavroche under Michel Roux Jr, before gaining experience at other prestigious restaurants, including The Ritz in London and the legendary two-Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons with Raymond Blanc.
In 2007, he became head chef at Danesfield House in Marlow, where he quickly made his mark, earning a Michelin star in 2010.
His cooking is often described as precise, elegant, and seasonal, combining classical French technique with contemporary presentation.
Adam has also made notable television appearances, including BBC Two’s Great British Menu in 2014, where his dishes were praised for their creativity and finesse.
In 2021, he opened Pavilion in Kensington, an ambitious project showcasing his modern approach to fine dining.
Throughout his career, Adam has been recognised for pushing boundaries in British gastronomy while mentoring young chefs and championing seasonal British produce.
