One in six has never cooked a meal from scratch


One in six adults has never cooked a meal from scratch, according to a survey, and use packets or jars of ingredients to make evening meals at least four nights a week.

Two thirds of people admit they are more likely to reach for ready made options than fresh ingredients according to the survey of 2,000 adults by Co-operative Food.

Stephen Gomes, who owns Moksh restaurant in Cardiff Bay and recently opened a second restaurant in Bristol, has been named chef of the year at the English Curry Awards.

Compass Chef of the Year Awards 2013 results revealed


In the senior competition, development chef Chris Pulfer from Restaurant Associates took gold, James Hart from UCL London won silver, and Shaun Reason from the Royal Military Academy (RMA) Sandhurst took bronze.
