National Chef of the Year 2018 finalist, Adam Thomason is executive chef for Deloitte at Restaurant Associates UK.

Adam first discovered his passion for food as a teenager when he was on work experience at a local catering firm. After being offered a job just a few weeks into his internship he decided to pursue a career in hospitality attending catering college despite being a keen gymnast at the time. During his career, the chef has worked alongside Sat Bains and at Hart’s.

How did it feel to get through to the final?

A huge relief as my name was one of the last to get called out!

It means so much to every person in the competition, making it through to the final is a fantastic achievement. Now I have my fingers crossed for the final!

Why did you enter national chef of the year?

I love a challenge. Putting yourself out of your comfort zone really helps you to grow and develop as a chef.
I currently work in the contract catering sector so it's always great to spend time with, and pitch myself, against the restaurant boys.

On Tuesday, October 3 a new National Chef of the Year will be crowned. We take a closer look at this year's finalists hoping to produce winning dishes at the final at The Restaurant Show, which will impress the judging panel.
