National Chef of the Year 2018 finalist, Simon Webb is head chef at Restaurant Associates.

Simon’s culinary career began like most chefs working as a pot wash as a teenager for his local pub. Since then Simon now heads up the kitchen at the Langham hotel in London and also oversees the private dining by Roux. Simon will also be leading the English culinary team to compete in the Culinary World Cup 2018.

How did it feel to get through to the final?

It is great to have your name called out as a finalist after such a tough day’s competition, as you are amongst so many great chefs judges and previous winners it's nice to be recognised.

Why did you enter National Chef of the Year?

I entered the Competition because when the brief came out I just couldn't help myself, having previously been in the final before I know what it's like for the winner and I want that feeling to win, and be named amongst all the previous winners. It would be amazing and something I've dreamed of for many years now, it would be the pinnacle of my career and something I've worked so hard for.

On Tuesday, October 3 a new National Chef of the Year will be crowned. We take a closer look at this year's finalists hoping to produce winning dishes at the final at The Restaurant Show, which will impress the judging panel.
