Michelin Guide UK 2026: Restaurants that lost Michelin stars

The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2026 has been published, bringing with it a new selection of starred restaurants alongside a small number of notable omissions.

As with every edition of the guide, some restaurants that previously held Michelin stars no longer appear in the latest selection.

This can be the result of permanent closures, planned transitions, changes in leadership, or the outcome of Michelin’s annual anonymous inspections, which assess consistency, quality, and the personality of a restaurant’s cooking over time.

Below is the confirmed list of restaurants that held Michelin stars in the 2025 Guide but do not feature in the Michelin Guide UK & Ireland 2026.

Restaurants removed at two Michelin stars

Three restaurants that previously held two Michelin stars do not appear in the 2026 Guide. All three have since closed or entered a period of significant transition.

Claude Bosi at Bibendum, London

The Bibendum building in Chelsea has entered a new chapter following the closure of Claude Bosi’s surprise two-starred restaurant.

After many years as one of London’s most established fine dining destinations, the Michelin-starred operation has ceased, with the site now undergoing redevelopment and repositioning.

La Dame de Pic, London

Anne-Sophie Pic’s London outpost closed last year, bringing an end to its presence in the UK Michelin selection.

Located at the Four Seasons Hotel at Ten Trinity Square, the restaurant had held two Michelin stars before its closure was announced as part of a wider reassessment of the space.

Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Great Milton

Raymond Blanc’s iconic Oxfordshire restaurant does not feature in the 2026 selection. The restaurant has entered a planned period of closure for extensive redevelopment, during which time it is absent from the guide. The wider hotel and estate continue to operate.

Restaurants missing from the 2026 Michelin Guide

Seven restaurants that held one Michelin star in the 2025 Guide do not feature in the 2026 selection.

Of these, four have closed, one is set to close, while two remain open, making their absence particularly closely watched within the industry.

The restaurants that have since closed are:

Five Fields, London

The Chelsea restaurant closed in 2025 after several years holding a Michelin star.

Crocadon, St Mellion

The Cornwall restaurant by Dan Cox, known for its hyper-local and sustainable ethos, has ceased trading and no longer appears in the Michelin selection. It also previously held a Michelin green star.

Hjem, Wall

The Northumberland restaurant has closed, ending its run as a Michelin-starred destination in the region.

Lyle’s, London

James Lowe’s Shoreditch restaurant, which played a significant role in shaping modern British cooking, has closed in its original Michelin-starred form as of May 2025.

Still operating restaurants no longer featured

Two restaurants remain open despite no longer appearing in the Michelin Guide, making them among the most notable omissions in the 2026 selection.

Humo, London

Humo remains open following a change in kitchen leadership. Chef Miller Prada departed the restaurant in 2025, with Scot Robbie Jameson now heading up the kitchen.

As with all Michelin decisions, the guide does not publicly comment on individual inspection outcomes, and changes in leadership are assessed over time rather than on reputation alone.

Bridge Arms, Bridge

The Bridge Arms remains open and trading, despite no longer holding a Michelin star. Its absence from the 2026 Guide is likely to prompt close interest from the industry, particularly given its previous consistency.

Club Gascon, London

Club Gascon continues to operate and is scheduled to remain open until March. The long-standing London restaurant has held Michelin recognition for many years under Pascal Aussignac and its forthcoming closure marks the end of a significant chapter for the business.

Context

The Michelin Guide is published annually and reflects inspections carried out anonymously throughout the year. Star ratings are awarded based on the quality of the food on the plate, consistency, and the personality of the chef’s cooking, rather than reputation or past achievements.

Restaurants may be removed from the guide due to closure, refurbishment, relocation, or a change in concept, and absence from the list does not necessarily reflect a single moment or service.
