Lisa Goodwin-Allen returns as Northcote takes on new ownership
lisa Goodwin-allen has made a swift return to northcote, following a change of ownership.
Silkstone Finance, the investment vehicle of husband-and-wife team Alf and Clare Ellis, has acquired renowned UK country house hotel Northcote from The Stafford Collection.
And one of their first moves is to bring Lisa in as chef patron-director.
The Stafford Collection, a BHL Ltd company, is an independently owned luxury portfolio of hotels, which also includes Norma and The Stafford, both in London.
A statement read: “The acquisition of Northcote, advised by Paul Raftery, corporate partner at national law firm, Weightmans, in Manchester and Chris Langrick of Langricks Chartered Accountants in Wilmslow, Cheshire, will fuel new investment to further enhance Northcote's esteemed reputation.”
Long-standing general manager, Craig Bancroft, will continue to lead the hotel, directing strategic investments in unison with the new ownership.
Alf and Clare’s journey with Northcote began when they first experienced the property as guests of the annual renowned culinary festival, Obsession, over 10 years ago.
Lisa Goodwin-Allen's return
Last month, Lisa Goodwin-Allen announced her departure from Northcote after more than 20 years, the past decade of which as executive chef.
At the time, she said: "After 23 amazing years at Northcote, the time has come for me to move on and explore new opportunities.
"I am incredibly proud of everything we have accomplished at Northcote and, more recently, across The Stafford Collection.
"The journey has been nothing short of amazing, and it has been an honour to lead such an exceptional team. I am so thankful for the opportunity Craig Bancroft and all the team at Northcote have given me.
"I am leaving with the happiest of memories, after more than two decades it will always have a very special place in my heart! I am excited to see what happens next and exploring all new opportunities, whatever they may be.
"While this is a bittersweet moment, I wish the team continued success in the years ahead."
John McLean, managing director at The Stafford Collection, added: "Lisa has been the beating heart of Northcote’s kitchen, setting new standards for British cuisine and making an extraordinary impact on the industry.
"Her legacy is one of excellence, creativity, and mentorship, and we are immensely grateful for all she has given.
“While we will miss her dearly, we celebrate everything she has achieved and know she will continue to shine in her next chapter."
But now, she is back, as chef patron-director.
“I’m honestly so chuffed to be returning to Northcote with Alf and Clare as owners,” said Lisa.
“Northcote is a place that means so much to me and I’m over the moon to be part of the next chapter. I’ve got to know Alf and Clare well over the years and together, with the incredible team in the kitchen, front and back of house, we’ll continue to push the boundaries, offering guests an unforgettable experience and proper northern hospitality.”
Located in the Lancashire’s Ribble Valley, boutique hotel Northcote’s Michelin-starred restaurant has long been known for its adventurous menus, using seasonal ingredients.
It also houses The Northcote Cookery School, with cookery courses from barbeque to bread.
The Chef’s Table places diners in the heart of the action in Northcote’s kitchen, offering a unique celebration space where guests can witness the theatre of exquisite dishes being created.
Northcote has won a host of awards, both for its hotel, restaurant and wine experience, including a Michelin star.
As part of this development, the existing restaurant space at Northcote will be transformed into a more relaxed brasserie, combining the finest hospitality with a more accessible menu for both local guests and residents, while still providing the high level of service and quality Northcote is known for.
