Tens of thousands of pubs have closed across the UK over the past ten years - one every twelve hours, according to The Campaign for Real Ale - which studies have linked to rising business rates, low-cost supermarket alcohol, changing social habits among 18-25 year-olds and the introduction of the smoking ban.

There is hope for the British public house, however, as recently published government figures indicate that the rate at which pubs closed between 2018 and 2019 has been significantly less than in previous years. Among other factors, one explanation for this is the rise of the gastropub - drawing new customers in with a high-quality food offering.

The programme, produced by Bone Soup has yet to set an airing date  - and anyone wishing to get involved, may that be pub owners or members of the community wishing to help save their local is invited to contact the company by emailing casting@bonesoup.co.uk or by calling 01179064321.
