Selin Kiazim to close Kyseri

Chef owner of acclaimed Turkish restaurant Kyseri, Selin Kiazim, has announced the impending closure of the Fitzrovia site. 

In a Twitter post, the chef, who also owns Oklava in Shoreditch, stressed that while the decision to close was hard taken, she and her business partner Laura Christie have another project in the pipeline. 

With sadness I bring you the news that we’ll be closing the doors to @kyseri_ldn in December.
With hard times, come hard decisions.

Selin trained at Peter Gordon's The Providores, followed by a tenure at sister site Kopapa, Selin Kiazim rise to prominence came with the launch of her own Cypriot fusion restaurant, Oklava. She was also on Great British Menu in 2017 and 2018. 

Eater London reports that the last service at Kiazim in its current form will be on December 21st, but that the duo are planning on relaunching the restaurant next year, possibly veering closer to the food offering at Oklava.

“We love the location and space of Kyseri, our customers and the neighbourhood we’ve gotten to know, and so with an exciting new project up our sleeve we’re sticking to recent roots and will re-open on our existing site.”

The new project, they said, will “see Selin pursue her long-time personal passion for Turkish baking, complemented by Laura’s love of wines from the same region.”

“We’re looking forward to sharing these last few months with our customers as we say farewell to Kyseri."
