The fundraising target is £135,000 and all the funds raised will contribute towards Springboard’s range of programmes and activities which help young people and unemployed adults find work in the UK hospitality, leisure and tourism industry. The group will also spend time with a local Nepali community to help rectify the devastating earthquake damage at the Manju Shree School.

Leading industry chef’s Lisa Goodwin-Allen and Chantelle Nicholson, who were both involved in the recent fundraising dinner to support the Nepali school from the 2014 trek, said: “When we heard that the 2017 Springboard Trek was back to Nepal we made a pact to sign up right there and then. We are so excited to be working together to make a difference to people’s lives.”

Those involved will face a 5 day trek in the Himalayas followed by a 3 day community project to rectify the earthquake damage at the Manju Shree School.

Anne Pierce, CEO The Springboard Charity, said: “Springboard’s annual treks and community projects are a much valued and sought after experience for those who take up the challenge. Those involved are able to challenge themselves mentally and physically, meet like-minded individuals from the industry, and give back to others less fortunate than themselves. The annual trek is an important source of funds for Springboard and has a major impact of people’s lives.”

Springboard is looking to fill the 36 places available by the end of September and extensive support will be provided, including crucial trek information and tips on fundraising. Places are available on a first come first served basis and for further details click here
