Straker’s, the Notting Hill restaurant by chef Thomas Straker, has expanded its offering with the opening of Straker’s Dining Room, a new private dining and events space located next door to the restaurant on Golborne Road.
The space soft-opened in December and has been designed to host private hires, collaborative dinners and a rotating programme of guest chefs throughout 2026.
The first public event will take place on January 8 - 9, with a two-night supper club from Otaku, the sell-out North London concept founded by Max Posener.
A purpose-built space for events and collaboration
With capacity for 24 seated guests or up to 40 standing, the Dining Room represents a deliberate extension of the Straker’s brand. While the food will remain rooted in the restaurant’s bold, flavour-forward cooking, the space itself departs from the main restaurant in both layout and atmosphere.
At its centre is a large communal table positioned around an original fireplace, intended to evoke the feel of a familial home. An entirely open kitchen sits beyond an archway, allowing diners to watch every stage of preparation, cooking and service.
{contribute-overlay}The room is finished with wall panelling, metal detailing threaded through the lighting and bar, and artwork by Harland Miller.
A dedicated private bar anchors the far wall, where bartenders will serve bespoke cocktails, aperitifs and no- and low-alcohol drinks designed to flow alongside each menu.
Seasonal menus with a sense of theatre
Menus at Straker’s Dining Room will be bespoke to each event and served family-style, with an emphasis on seasonality and theatrical presentation. Dishes may include canapés such as tuna tartare or hogget croquette, starters like beef carpaccio and langoustine with gremolata burnt butter, and elevated pasta courses including lobster raviolo and pumpkin and ricotta agnolotti.
For main courses, the team aims to introduce a sense of spectacle, with dishes such as whole roasted turbot, suckling pig and, during the autumn and winter months, a selection of British game.
Beyond private hire, the Dining Room has been conceived as an incubator space for emerging chefs and a platform for collaborative events with established restaurants and brands.
Otaku launches the guest chef programme
The guest chef programme will officially launch in January with Otaku, the immersive supper club co-founded by Max Posener and Straker’s head sommelier Oliver Baggott. The two-night takeover will mark the first time Posener has hosted Otaku outside of his home.
Across 18 courses, the menu will showcase Posener’s precise, technically driven cooking with strong Asian influences. Highlights are set to include the prawn dog, a corn dog-style dish with prawn head ketchup, beef short rib with miso-cured foie gras, and a deliberately divisive dessert of Dairy Milk mousse with salt, vinegar and pork scratchings.
Tickets for Otaku x Straker’s, along with future collaborations, go on sale from December 19 via the Straker’s website.
Straker’s Dining Room is located at 89 Golborne Road, London.
