Selfridges has teamed up with Mexican chefs for “Welcome to Mexico”, to coincide with the ‘Year of Mexico in the UK’.

From April, a group of young chefs are borrowing from the past to rediscover and reinvent Mexican cuisine in new and innovative ways. There will be a series of demos, samplings in the Foodhall and guest chef takeovers.

Some of these chefs are heading to Selfridges for a series of gastronomic events at the store’s Corner Restaurant between the April 14 and May 12.

Guest appearances include Benito Molina, Daniel Ovadia, Miguel Angel Guererro, Javier Plascencia and Manolo Banos.

Diners to Selfridges will be able to sample contemporary dishes such as lobster with mole verde, Madagascar tuna tostada and a rice pudding and nitro churro.

Tickets cost £80 per person for a tasting menu with paired wines and spirits.

Selfridges Foodhall is also getting involved, with leading Mexican restaurateurs and suppliers sampling some of their signature dishes.

The companies include London based Mexican restaurant Lupita and Gringa Dairy, an artisan dairy making authentic Mexican cheese, based in Peckham.

Tastings will take place daily between 12pm and 8.30 pm at the Oxford Street store in a pop-up stand.
