The World’s 50 Best Restaurants to celebrate fifteenth anniversary with superstar chef line up

To celebrate its fifteenth anniversary, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is bringing together Ferran Adrià, René Redzepi, Joan Roca, Massimo Bottura and Daniel Humm for an exclusive event presented by Miele, in Barcelona, Spain, on June 27, 2017.

The chefs, who have all been named No.1 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants over its 15-year history, will each outline his personal vision for the future of gastronomy at a special edition of #50BestTalks in front of an invited audience. The event will also be streamed on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Facebook page. This live forum will be followed a celebratory gastronomic feast, co-hosted by Ferran Adrià at the Bravo24 restaurant in the W Barcelona hotel.

Award-winning chef Ferran Adrià said: “I am delighted to be able to participate in this historic event alongside my fellow chefs. These five ‘superchefs’ have helped shape the global culinary landscape over the last decade and a half, and will no doubt play a highly influential role in the future of food, restaurants and gastronomy. Joan Roca will be joined at the event by brothers Josep and Jordi, while Eleven Madison Park chef Daniel Humm will be accompanied by the current World’s Best Restaurant’s co-owner, Will Guidara. Chefs from The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list – past and present – will also be invited to attend this historic celebratory gathering in Barcelona.

Hosting the event in Spain will provide a taste of what is to come on the next stop on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ global tour, with the 2018 awards event being hosted in Bilbao. Over the 15-year history of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, Spain, as a whole, has always been very strongly represented, with both El Bulli and El Celler de Can Roca topping the list on a number of occasions.

The anniversary lunch at Bravo24 at the W Barcelona will gather chefs, media, VIPs and partners to celebrate the history, growth and influence of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants over the last 15 years. This all-afternoon gastronomic experience will see Ferran Adrià curate a contemporary take on global tapas, with the aid of a host of Barcelona-based and former El Bulli chefs.

Over its history, the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants has had seven different establishments at No.1, each named as The World’s Best Restaurant. They are: El Bulli, led by Ferran Adrià (2002, 2006-2009); The French Laundry, led by Thomas Keller (2003, 2004); The Fat Duck, led by Heston Blumenthal (2005); Noma, led by René Redzepi (2010-2012, 2014); El Celler de Can Roca, led by the Roca brothers (2013, 2015), Osteria Francescana, led by Massimo Bottura (2016) and Eleven Madison Park, led by Daniel Humm and Will Guidara (2017).
