Indian chef, Vivek Singh, has been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Warwick.

As part of the celebrations marking the University’s 50th year, the University is honouring those who have driven change through their independent thinking.

Vivek, who is executive chef of The Cinnamon Club, Cinnamon Kitchen and Cinnamon Soho, was awarded the honour to recognise how his modern, Indian culinary style has helped to promote Indian cuisine across the UK, for his entrepreneurialism and also for his charitable contributions.

Professor Nigel Thrift, vice-chancellor and president of the university said: “We are delighted to present Vivek with a Warwick honorary degree for his significant contribution to the development of Indian cuisine in the UK.”

Vivek said: “I am delighted to have been awarded an honorary degree from such a prestigious university. The University of Warwick and I share many of the same aspirations and goals, as well as a love for the food industry, and I look forward to building a lasting relationship with Professor Thrift and his talented team.”
