Gordon Ramsay opens first restaurant in India at Delhi Airport
Michelin-starred chef Gordon Ramsay has officially entered the Indian dining scene, opening his first restaurant in the country at Terminal 1, Delhi Airport.

As famous for his colourful use of words as for his culinary prowess, Gordon is a TV chef and an internationally-acclaimed cook.
Not only has he broken records as the only Scottish chef to achieve and retain three Michelin stars, Gordon's popularity has led him to become one of the most successful chefs in the restaurant business.
How did Gordon Ramsay become a chef?
Although you wouldn’t believe it now, Gordon didn't always want to be a chef, in fact he wanted to become a professional football player. He joined the Glasgow Rangers pro club football team at 15, but a knee injury when he was 18 cut his ambitions short.
Instead the chef decided to go to North Oxfordshire Technical Culinary College to complete a course in Hotel Management, which led him to train with some of the world’s leading chefs, including Albert Roux and Marco Pierre White. In the early 1980s, he worked as a commis chef at the Wroxton House Hotel then ran the kitchen and 60-seat dining room at the Wickham Arms.
After working at Harveys for two years and ten months, he gained a taste for the variety of culinary traditions and decided he wanted to further advance his career by studying French Cuisine.
This encouraged him to get work at Le Gavroche under Albert Roux. Roux invited him to work as his number two at Hotel Diva, in Tignes, the famous ski resort in the French Alps.
From there, he moved to Paris and worked with Guy Savoy and Joël Robuchon (1945-2018), both famous Michelin-starred chefs.
Having dived into the deep end and learned with the world's best, when he returned to London in 1993, Gordon was offered the position of head chef at Pierre Koffmann’s three Michelin star Restaurant, La Tante Claire.

THE new restaurant
The launch brings Gordon's signature Street Burger concept to India, offering travellers the chance to taste the chef’s food without leaving the country. Until now, fans in India could only experience Gordon on television or by visiting his international restaurants.
The Gordon Ramsay Street Burger menu showcases bold flavours and generous portions, with highlights including the Butternut Bhaji Burger, Gordon’s Fried Chicken Burger and the fiery Hotter Than Hell Fries. Classic desserts such as Sticky Toffee Pudding and a line-up of cocktails round out the offering.

Delhi is just the beginning. Gordon has partnered with Travel Food Services (TFS), one of India’s leading airport hospitality companies, in a three-year deal that will see six restaurants open by 2027. The rollout will introduce several of Gordon's global concepts to Indian airports, including Street Burger, Street Pizza, Plane Food and Plane Food To-Go.
Plane Food will serve sit-down meals throughout the day for travellers before take-off, Street Pizza will focus on freshly made pizzas, and Plane Food To-Go will provide quick, travel-friendly options for passengers on the move. An official statement confirmed that the partnership aims to transform terminal dining into a more dynamic, top-tier gastronomic experience.
Following the Delhi opening, the next stop is Mumbai, where another outlet is expected to launch soon. For Gordon, who has built a global restaurant empire since founding his group in 1997, the move into India represents both a strategic expansion and a chance to engage with one of the world’s most dynamic dining audiences.
His restaurants have earned 17 Michelin stars in total and currently hold eight, cementing his reputation as one of the most recognised chefs in the world.
