In Feburary, The Staff Canteen Live 2016 made its debut at Hotelympia, bringing with it some of the UK’s top chefs and the opportunity for audiences to interact with them. And we are proud to announce that we were voted the most visited feature and most useful feature at this year’s show!

The aim of The Staff Canteen Live at Hotelympia was to reenergize the trade show image and create an interactive and informative platform for those in the industry to come along and be a part of.

We are excited are that The Staff Canteen Live achieved those aims and we are now looking forward to building on it year on year.

Toby Wand, Managing Director at Fresh Montgomery who are behind Hotelympia, said: ‘’Fresh Montgomery were thrilled to team up with The Staff Canteen to create a vibrant live new event at Hotelympia.

“From our detailed research post show ‘The Staff Canteen Live Skillery’ was voted the most useful and thrilling event that we staged in 2016.

“To get 24 Michelin stars to appear at Hotelympia over 4 days was some feat.”

He added: “We look forward to bringing the same excitement to The Great Hospitality Show in Birmingham and ScotHot in Glasgow next year!’’

The Staff Canteen Live not only wanted to create a buzz at Hotelympia but it also aimed to attract a wider audience by live streaming all of the demos on The Staff Canteen YouTube channel. It allowed anyone, anywhere to see Michelin-starred chefs in action. Some of these chefs included Tom Kerridge, Tom Aikens, Nathan Outlaw, Claude Bosi plus many more.

Speaking to us at Hotelympia, Tom Kerridge said: “To watch The Staff Canteen grow at the same rate as the Hand and Flowers has been amazing, so to be asked to do something live like this has been great.”

Clare Smyth from the Gordon Ramsay Group added: “Events like this are really important to inspire the next generation of chefs and for them to see people on stage they know, they recognise and to ask questions. Also, to pick up ideas or tips on preparation and cooking.”

Managing Director of The Staff Canteen, Mark Morris, said: “It’s great that all the sheer hard work by our team, has been rewarded. Having TSCLive voted as the most useful and most visited feature, shows that chefs are attending shows and that TSCLive is very much the centre of this. We must say a huge thank you to those chefs that gave up their time to share their knowledge and skills on stage and to our sponsors. See you at the Great Hospitality show in January.”
