the ‘dausage’- a sausage filled with the choice of jam or custard. Liam says that despite the idea not being perceived well at the beginning, once people try it they love it. Curious to taste it? The owner is now working on plans to expand his business nationwide.
New Record
A new record was set for the most sausages produced in one minute. The record was made by Alistair Paul from A and I Quality Butchers in Inverness, who managed to produce 36 sausages in one minute. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness over the commitment and skills of local butchers.
Sausage Festival
There is no doubt that sausage itself gets attention and plenty of awareness. This was proved two weeks ago when thousands of hungry people took part in the biggest annual sausage festival. The Lincoln Festival took place on 24 October, where there was good music, art shows, children’s plays, cooking demonstrations and of course plenty of sausages.
Holy Grail for butchers
Exactly one year ago a tour bus travelled 650 miles to meet the region’s best butchers at venues in London, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Reading, Peterborough and Bristol. From more than 500 entries nationwide each region was whittled down to the top six butchers, who were then invited to the final, where one butcher from each category won the Banger Award.
