Deep south USA inspired restaurant to open in Manchester

A restaurant, inspired by the deep south of USA, will open in Manchester next year and create 85 jobs.  Red’s True Barbecue, the fast-growing smokehouse barbecue concept, is to open its second restaurant in Manchester following a major £1.2m investment.  Situated at 22 Lloyd Street on Albert Square, the opening will bring the company’s authentic ‘low and slow’ barbecue cooking concept to the city for the first time. Chef flown 4,000 miles to cook a curry in the Congo

A CHEF will fly an Indian feast 4,000 miles as a festive treat for peace-keeping troops – paid for by a wealthy pilot who was blown away by her culinary skills.  Shahena Ali, head chef at the Maharaja restaurant in Thundersley, was hand-picked to cook up a special meal for 150 United Nations soldiers, based in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo. NEW CHEF AT WEST CUMBRIAN RIVERSIDE RESTAURANT

A chef who has worked in top hotels in Ambleside has started a new job in Cockermouth.  George Cherian, 34, who was head chef at the Sawrey House Hotel, has taken over at the Honest Lawyer as executive chef.  He has brought his mix of French and English cuisine to the riverside venue. Plans for £18m boutique waterfront hotel revealed

A PLANNED new waterfront hotel will be built around a courtyard swimming pool, new computer drawings show.  The £18million boutique hotel in the prominent Melville building, at the heart of Plymouth’s Royal William Yard, is due to open in 2015. Read more from Plymouth Herald
