Deadline approaching for WorldSkills UK entrants

The Staff Canteen
Hopefuls have just two days remaining as WorldSkills UK seek new talent who are interested in the chance to represent their country in their chosen hospitality skill. Following the success of the Skills Show in identifying 50% of the WorldSkills UK talent pool, they are now looking for more dedicated individuals to join them for a shortlisting competition which could be the beginning of a journey to the four day WorldSkills competition in Sao Paulo in 2015. WorldSkills is the largest vocational trades competition in the world and showcases young professionals from across the globe. The skills areas in which the UK are looking for entrants are Patisserie and Confectionery, Cooking and Restaurant Service. If you were born after 1 January 1993 (or under 22 in the age of the International competition) then simply
email your name, date of birth, address, phone number and place of work or study to the appropriate contact. A CV or work experience profile should also be attached to aid the application. Those interested in Patisserie and Confectionery should contact Yolande Stanley on [email protected]. Cooking applicants should email Michael Godfrey at [email protected]. Katie Kyrousis is the person to contact for the Restaurant Service applications at [email protected]. Competition experience is not essential but is recommended. A passport or ID will be required when at the competition as proof of age. Entrants must be available on Tuesday 4 February to attend a one day competition held in Winchester. Applications should arrive to the appropriate email address by 5pm on Friday 10 January.
Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
